Producers in Organized Supply Chain Enterprise

Producers in Organised Supply Chain Enterprise (PROSPER) is designed for social entrepreneurs and primary producers who are working in the natural fiber value chain in Northeast India. Harnessing the immense potential of this region, a Business Enterprise Leadership and Management Programme (BELMP) has been designed for social entrepreneurs who work directly with natural fibres such as jute, bamboo, coconut, eri, water hyacinth, among others, or their related/ value-added products, in the handloom, handicraft and agriculture and allied sectors. The aim is to help social entrepreneurs acquire technical and practical skills to scale their businesses, create market linkages and connect with buyers. Social entrepreneurs will be guided to work closely with their own primary producers/ producer communities to build their capacities.

Objectives

  1. Create a pool of certified social entrepreneurs who disseminate their learning to primary producers, thus creating a knowledge pool and skilled eco-system for the natural fibre sector in the NER.
  2. Increase the entrepreneurial, managerial and marketing competencies of social entrepreneurs to build and enhance their enterprises
  3. Build capacities of primary producers working with the social entrepreneurs thus strengthening the entire value chain of the enterprise
  4. Create cross-learning opportunities through best practices and exposure visits for social entrepreneurs and primary producers
  5. Improved quality of raw materials being supplied to social enterprises in the region
  6. Improved access to the domestic market for the enterprises in the natural fibre sector
  7. Curriculum for broad handholding of social entrepreneurs mainstreamed with government programmes and schemes

Achievements

  1. An inclusive Business Enterprise Leadership Curriculum co-created designed for Social Entrepreneurs from Northeast Region
  2. 322 social entrepreneurs engaged through the BELMP application process
  3. Social entrepreneurs engaged closely in the curriculum design process
  4. Dialogue created with Government on created synergies and linkages to Government schemes and policies
  5. Mapping of key products and buyers for assisting social entrepreneurs for assisting in availing benefits and connecting to markets
