Integrated Livelihood Development Programme

UNDP’s partnership with L&T CSR, Integrated Livelihoods Development Project, aimed to enhance the livelihoods of the target beneficiaries through farm and allied interventions; career counselling & guidance for students; linking youth with jobs; micro-enterprise promotion; and linking farmers with the market. The project partnered with local government departments as well as with the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission in line with UNDP’s belief that sustainable results can be achieved only through collaboration.

Objectives

  1. The project’s aim was to increase the income of 2,000 vulnerable families in Karanji cluster of Pathardi block, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra.

Achievements

  1. The project promoted 8 Sanyukta Mahila Samitis (SMS), 5 Village Organizations (VOs) and 114 Self Help Groups (SHGs). 108 Self Help Groups successfully registered on National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) portal. 79 Farmer Producer Groups promoted under the project out of which 36 Farmer Producer Groups linked with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
  2. The project organised various exposure visits for women and farmers – visit to Amul Dairy at Anand Gujarat, Mulkanoor Women’s Cooperative Dairy at Mulkanoor, Telangana, Backyard Poultry Unit at Abu Road, Rajasthan, Sahyadri Famer Producer Company, Nashik, Maharashtra, and Big Basket Collection Centre, Pune, Maharashtra were the prominent ones.
  3. 64 individual families and 4 Community Groups (SHG/SMS) benefitted through market linkages for their farm produce. Approx INR 10.05 lacs of income generated through the marketing of 63 tons of agri. and horti. produce from the project villages. 57 A2 milk producers linked with market through collection centres and successfully marketed more than 13,000 litres of milk generating a revenue of INR 6.2 lacs. 61 families benefitted from sale of 143 goats generating a revenue of INR. 6,25,530. 140 families benefitted from sale of 1,468 poultry birds generating a revenue of INR 2,99,517.
  4. 1200 families received trainings on best practices in agriculture, horticulture, dairy, goatery and Self-Help Group management.
  5. Established two Career Counselling and Guidance Centre at project villages to create awareness among the youths on skills building and job opportunities. Through these centres the project reached out to more than 700 youths and disseminated information on skill building courses and career opportunities.
  6. 49 youth enrolled and trained for skills development at PACE Centre, Ahmednagar (Electrician Course) and Aurangabad (Basic Hospitality Training Course). 113 youth linked to various job opportunities through job fairs, direct linkages and through skill building trainings, out of which 68 youth joined various companies in industrial and hospitality domain.
  7. The project organised two different sessions on Entrepreneurship Awareness and Entrepreneurship Development at project villages and provided handholding support in establishing 11 microenterprises in the project villages.
