Approaches
People-centric:
- We focus on improving the self-reliance, social justice, and decision-making skills of the local communities and call for a change in social and political values, behaviour, and practices.
Collaborative: We believe that strong partnerships have a better impact
- In sync with the SDGs, UNDP works with governments, the private sector, implementing partners, UN agencies, ecosystem players, and other stakeholders to leverage development expertise and resources by collaborating on analysis, assessments and planning, pipeline development, and project implementation towards shared outcomes.
Towards Green Jobs and Nature Based Livelihoods
- To mitigate the adverse socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis, UNDP is designing sustainable and inclusive pathways to recovery to advance green recovery and build resilience to help prevent and better cope with a future crisis. To this end, the planned measures will strengthen policy advocacy and build capacities to create momentum for green recovery, green financing, expand access to green jobs and livelihoods, and increase the use of clean energy solutions.
Promoting equity and equality
- Gender equality and equity and the empowerment of women and youth are central to the mandate of UNDP. It is intrinsic to our human rights-based approach to development programming. Our efforts include advocating for the human rights of women and girls, combating discriminatory practices, and challenging the roles and stereotypes that create inequalities and exclusion of marginalized sections in India
Government ownership
- UNDP supports the Government's flagship development initiatives through sharing of knowledge, technical support, and improving services
Optimize not duplicate
- UNDP channelizes resources and funds towards the optimization of existing systems to maximize their potential and ensure smooth functioning at the ground level. We co-create and map innovative and scalable solutions. We set up collaborative platforms with multiple stakeholders for convergence and optimization of impact.
Leave no one behind
- UNDP takes explicit action to end extreme poverty, curb inequalities, and confront discrimination to fast-track progress for the furthest behind.
